What Is a No-Gas MIG Welder?
A no-gas MIG welder, also known as a flux-cored wire welder, uses a special wire electrode with a flux core. This core contains a mix of metallic and non-metallic materials that create a protective shield during welding, eliminating the need for an external shielding gas.
Unlike traditional gas-shielded MIG welders, no-gas MIG welders are more portable and easier to set up since they don’t require bulky gas tanks. However, welds made with a flux-cored wire may look slightly different and might not be as strong as those produced with a gas-shielded MIG welder.
How to Set Up Your Welding Machine
Flux Core Mode Setup:
- No MIG Torch Required: Skip this step for flux core welding.
- Connect the Ground Clamp: Attach the ground clamp cable to the positive connector (+) on the MIG welder.

Setting Up for Stick Welding (MMA/ARC Mode):
Connect the Ground Clamp:
- Take the ground clamp with its attached cable.
- Plug the cable end into the Negative (–) Terminal on the welder.
Attach the Electrode Holder:
- Connect the electrode holder to the Positive (+) Terminal on the welder.
That's it! You're now ready to start stick welding.

Setting Up for Lift TIG Welding:
Connect the Ground Clamp:
- Take the ground clamp with its attached cable.
- Plug the cable end into the Positive (+) Terminal on the welder.
Attach the TIG Torch:
- Connect the TIG torch to the Negative (–) Terminal on the welder.
Note: The TIG torch is optional and not included in the package.
